Enrolment Terms and Conditions

During the enrolment process you will be asked to confirm that you agree with each of the statements in the Student Declaration. Please read the Student Declaration carefully before you begin the enrolment process because the Student Declaration is intended to be legally binding.  If you do not agree with the Student Declaration, you cannot be enrolled.  If you have questions, please contact us before you begin the enrolment process.

As an applicant of Federation University

  • You understand that The University is collecting the information on this form for the purposes of processing your application and for the supply of educational services, including for the purposes of assessing your entitlement to Commonwealth assistance under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 and allocation of a Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number (CHESSN) to me;
  • You understand that The University will disclose this information to the Department of Education for those purposes;
  • You understand that The Department of Education will store the information securely in the Higher Education Information Management System;
  • You understand that The Department of Education may disclose the information to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO);
  • You understand that personal information about me may be disclosed by the University and The Department of Education to others where required or authorised by law;
  • You understand that submitting direct applications to multiple institutions is a direct breach of VTAC policy and may result in the withdrawal by the University of any place which may be offered;
  • You declare that I have not submitted an application through VTAC for this intake and am applying only to Federation University Australia. I understand that the University may disclose your information to VTAC for auditing purposes;
  • You declare that I have provided supporting documentation, and that all transcripts and qualifications submitted are of sufficient quality and are legible;
  • You authorise the University to seek verification of your academic and professional qualifications and work experience.
  • You authorise Federation University to contact VTAC to obtain your academic records on your behalf. I also provide your permission to VTAC to make these results available to Federation University.
  • You declare that I have read the instructions and that all information submitted is correct and complete; and
  • You acknowledge that the provision of incorrect information may result in the withdrawal by the University of any place which may be offered.

As a student of Federation University you understand that:

  • Federation University Australia collects the information sought by this form together with a photograph for the purposes of processing your enrolment application. The information will be held by Federation University and may be accessed by people employed or engaged by the University in the delivery of services to me.
  • The information may be made available to Commonwealth and State Government departments and agencies and to the ESOS Assurance Fund pursuant to the University’s obligations under the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000 and the National Code. In addition, we may disclose personal information to Australian Government agencies, including Services Australia, where this is required by Australian law. Information about your enrolment with us may be disclosed if you are claiming or receiving a payment from Services Australia. You are still required to notify Services Australia of any change in circumstances that may affect your payment. Personal information disclosed to Services Australia is protected by law, including the Privacy Act 1988. More information about the way Services Australia handles personal information can be found on their privacy webpage. Information may also be used or disclosed to other organisations outside the University where permitted by relevant Privacy legislation. The provision of the information is voluntary, but if this is not provided, the University may be unable to process your enrolment.
  • You have the right of access to the correction of personal information in accordance with the relevant privacy legislation and the University’s Privacy Policy (which is available at Enquiries in relation to privacy can be directed to the University’s Privacy Officer – ph: (03) 5327 9021 or email
  • Your enrolment and its continuance may be facilitated by government funding. If there is a change in the policy or legislation of any government or public authority which adversely impacts on the University’s capacity to deliver programs then it is possible that your enrolment at Federation University Australia may be affected or cancelled. To the extent permitted by law I release Federation University Australia from all claims for losses or compensation that may arise in those circumstances.

For students eligible for HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP the following privacy statement applies:

You acknowledge that Federation University Australia is collecting the information in this form for the purpose of assessing your entitlement to Commonwealth assistance under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 and allocation of a Commonwealth Higher Education Support Number (CHESSN) to me. Federation University Australia will disclose this information to the Department of Education for these purposes. The Department of Education may disclose the information to the Australian Tax Office. Federation University Australia and the Department of Education will not otherwise disclose information without your consent unless required or authorised by law.

You acknowledge that you have been read and agree to the terms described by this Privacy Statement and Disclaimer and:

  • You agree to abide by the Legislation, Policies, Procedures, Standards of Conduct and rules of Federation University Australia.
  • You agree to pay all fees and charges applicable to, and arising from, this enrolment.
  • You acknowledge that any false information and/or failure to disclose any relevant information on your application for enrolment and/or incomplete application may result in a withdrawal of any offer, and/or cancellation of enrolment at Federation University Australia, particularly if it relates to your eligibility for government subsidised training.
  • You understand that it is your responsibility to provide all relevant and required documentation and to notify Federation University Australia of any changes to your information (including your contact details).
  • You declare that the information provided to Federation University Australia is to the best of your knowledge true, correct and complete at the time of your enrolment/application.
  • You acknowledge that the University will correspond with you via any of the following means: on official University noticeboards, to your nominated correspondence address and electronically via your University email account.
  • You acknowledge that your photograph may be taken and used by the University for identification and also for other purposes associated with the University’s administrative, academic and promotional functions. It is your responsibility to contact the University’s Privacy Officer in writing if I wish to have your photograph withheld from University use for any of these purposes.
  • You acknowledge that the University uses the ‘Turnitin’ process to detect instances of plagiarism and I consent to your work being submitted to Turnitin during the period of your enrolment at Federation University.
  • You consent to use and disclosure of the information in connection with your enrolment for the purpose and in the circumstances described above.
  • You maybe be removed from your course and cease to be enrolled with Federation University Australia if you do not access the online learning system by the third week of your first teaching period.
  • You authorise Federation University Australia to release your results/attendance records for this enrolment to your employer or sponsoring organisation and other education providers in appropriate circumstances.
